 Ash – Herd Matriarch

Ash came to Hanni Mountain Farms when she was just 4 years old, bringing along her twin kids, Fern and Bandit. Both still reside here on the farm, and together they make quite the trio. Ash has firmly established herself as the matriarch of our herd—she’s definitely the boss and isn’t shy about letting everyone know it! We absolutely adore her spunky spirit and strong-willed attitude.

2025 Kidding Notes:

Ash has a wonderfully compact frame—short-bodied, not super tall—with excellent udder attachment and impressive milk capacity. For her 2025 breeding, we paired her with Snickers. Our goal with this pairing was to enhance udder capacity, improve overall attachment, increase dairyness, and strengthen the top line, while also increasing neck length a bit and a little more height.

So far, we’re thrilled with the results—her two retained doelings, Bambi and Fawn, are showing great improvement in all the right areas. Both will be bred in the 2026 season, and we’re excited to watch them mature!
